Aerostar flight training
The Aerostar is one of the fastest piston twins ever built, on a small wing, with a following that knows exactly what it has. Instructors who know the airplane are hard to find, and it rarely appears on training center lists. Its speed and wing loading make approach planning and engine-out handling the center of the course.
Tuition shown takes effect January 1, 2027. Courses before then are at the current rate, so ask us.

Aerostar training questions
How much does Aerostar training cost?
Aerostar initial training is $3,050 and recurrent is $1,800, delivered in your own aircraft at your airport or at ours. Tuition is the same in both places. Travel expenses are added when we come to you, and your aircraft's fuel and operating cost during the flight hours is yours.
Do I need a type rating for the Aerostar?
No. The Aerostar is well under 12,500 lb.
Does the Aerostar need a high altitude endorsement?
Depends on the model. For the pressurized P models, check your AFM; the rule in 14 CFR 61.31(g) applies when the lower of service ceiling and maximum operating altitude is above 25,000 feet.
Will my underwriter accept Aerostar training in my own aircraft?
That is your underwriter's decision, for your experience and limits. Ask your broker first. We can send the aircraft-specific syllabus and CFII credentials to help them decide.
Is there a formal recurrent program for an Aerostar?
Yes. The Aerostar is on our eligible aircraft list, and we have submitted aircraft-specific syllabi for the PA600, PA601-P, PA602-P and PA700-P to underwriters. Confirm with your broker that it meets your policy.
