Turbo Commander training
Turbo Commanders are fixed-shaft TPE331 airplanes with a loyal owner base and very few training choices on the web. The fixed-shaft engine shapes everything from the start sequence to what a power reduction does on short final. The Commander 1000 stays under the type-rating line at 11,200 or 11,750 lb depending on model.
Published tuition covers the 690A and 690B. Ask for the 680 series, 681, 690C, 840, 900 and 1000.
Tuition shown takes effect January 1, 2027. Courses before then are at the current rate, so ask us.

Turbo Commander training questions
How much does Turbo Commander training cost?
Turbo Commander initial training is $3,750 and recurrent is $2,750, delivered in your own aircraft at your airport or at ours. Tuition is the same in both places. Travel expenses are added when we come to you, and your aircraft's fuel and operating cost during the flight hours is yours. Published tuition covers the 690A and 690B. Ask for the 680 series, 681, 690C, 840, 900 and 1000.
Do I need a type rating for the Turbo Commander?
No. The FAA data sheet shows 11,200 lb for the 695A and 11,750 lb for the 695B, both Commander 1000 models.
Does the Turbo Commander need a high altitude endorsement?
Yes on the models read. The FAA data sheet shows 35,000 feet for the 695A and 695B, so the 14 CFR 61.31(g) endorsement applies unless you hold it or an exception applies. Check your AFM for other models.
Will my underwriter accept Turbo Commander training in my own aircraft?
That is your underwriter's decision, for your experience and limits. Ask your broker first. We can send the aircraft-specific syllabus and CFII credentials to help them decide.
