Cessna Caravan initial and recurrent training
The Caravan is a high-performance turbine airplane with fixed landing gear, which makes it a useful case of how the FAA definitions work: it is not a complex airplane, because 14 CFR 61.1 requires retractable gear. It is also unpressurized, so the high-altitude endorsement is not the issue. Training centers on PT6A handling, weight and loading, and the kind of flying these airplanes really do.

Caravan training questions
How much does Caravan training cost?
Caravan initial training is $3,300 and recurrent is $2,200, delivered in your own aircraft at your airport or at ours. Tuition is the same in both places. Travel expenses are added when we come to you, and your aircraft's fuel and operating cost during the flight hours is yours.
Do I need a type rating for the Caravan?
No. The FAA data sheet shows maximum takeoff weights of 8,000, 8,750 and 8,807 lb by model.
Does the Caravan need a high altitude endorsement?
No. The endorsement in 14 CFR 61.31(g) is for pressurized aircraft, and the Caravan is not pressurized.
Will my underwriter accept Caravan training in my own aircraft?
That is your underwriter's decision, for your experience and limits. Ask your broker first. We can send the aircraft-specific syllabus and CFII credentials to help them decide.
